The business world has witnessed a major shakeup at the helm of global coffee giant, Starbucks. The company bid adieu to its CEO of just over a year, Kevin Johnson. In a surprising turn of events, the man assuming the position is none other than the previous CEO of Chipotle Mexican Grill, Brian Niccol.
The change in leadership emerged on the back of Starbucks experiencing a somewhat difficult phase, grappling with tepid growth and challenges arising from the global pandemic. Johnson, who had been steering the ship since 2017 initially as president and chief operating officer and later as CEO since 2018, decided to step down at this critical juncture.
